Dr. John Augspurger, DDS, NMD, IBDM
Thirty-four years of finding out.
Dr. John has practiced dentistry for more than 35 years, and biological dentistry since 1992. Patients and podcast listeners know him as The BioDentist.

He started at 13, as a lab technician in his father's orthodontic office, and earned his dental degree at the University of Iowa College of Dentistry.
A few years into conventional practice, he decided something was fundamentally wrong with the model. He went looking for a better one, and trained with Dr. Hal Huggins, Dr. Thomas Levy and Dr. Thomas Rau of the Paracelsus Clinic in Switzerland.
In Denver he co-founded a 20,000-square-foot health center that put dentistry, medicine, a garden and a chef under one roof. Today he practices, teaches dentists, and speaks on stages and shows about the mouth and the rest of the body.
Along the way

- DenverCo-founds a health center with dentistry, medicine, a garden and a chef under one roof.
- Age 55Has his own work done, sedated, in front of 20 dentists. Back with patients the following week.
- The pushbackHis own profession pushes back. He stands before his state's dental board, takes that fight to federal court, and keeps practicing and teaching.
- NowWriting the curriculum he wishes he'd had, so the next dentist doesn't spend decades learning it the hard way.
I was in the middle of my class, but I had great hands. They don't give you an A for that.
